Looking for new music is becoming bit of an obsession that I just can’t escape at the moment. And as much as I enjoy band-music – after all, that’s where most of us begin our auditory journeys – you just can’t beat the ethereal feeling you get when your ears cuddle an electronic sound layered with majestic textures and heart-warming tones.
I felt the same when I discovered Tourist, and here we have another talented Brighton-based producer. Adolescent is the work of 21 year old Alex Parish who exudes maturity in the way he puts together his tunes. The downtempo trip-hop sound has clear influences from Portishead and Massive Attack and he does well to convey a meaning without lyrics. It’s not often you can say someone has created an idyllic soundscape but Alex definitely already has.
